Ever lost your motivation for your job?

I had been working towards something for 12 years which is not now going to happen and I'm really asking myself why I'm putting myself through this every day. Still got a couple of years to go on the mortgage though so some sort or work is a necessity.

Imagine what its like to have no job.

Life is short to be unhappy and you can always look for other work
while you still have a job.

If it was not a recession I would say go find something you love.

Sadly the market is very slow for some jobs/fields and you have a mortgage. Make sure you unwind when you finish work so does feel you have gone home and doing osmething for you.

Set new goals at your current place, talk to your manager to take on other roles?
