Starting to plan the summers project doing up the garden post builder destruction.

It’s not massive but a decent size for a city garden nice and square with mature hedges and trees on two sides.

I’m looking for inspiration either books or websites (or your own projects)

I’d like a patio in front of the bifolds, a seating area off to one side and somewhere I can bbq without covering everyone in smoke.

Vaguely thinking about sleepers for beds or possible Gambions with stones.

Asked the kids, they want it to good for nerf wars….

John Brookes would be a good place to start - he's done a few 'Small Garden' books and some may be a bit dated but his approach is still pretty accessible. Small gardens aren't easy as you often want to use the garden for all the same stuff that people would in a bigger space - making things multipurpose or allowing ideas to overlap is worth it (eg if you're using sleepers or gabions can they be casual seating as well as raised beds?). SketchUp can be a great tool to help you visualise the end product.

I think I have a spare "small gardens" book or 2, send me a pm and if I can find it it's yours for postage...

I follow Charlie Harpur on Instagram. He's involved with the Knepp wilding courtyard garden and won stuff this year. Some lovely ideas.
