Tell me about gaming on a 3 year old macbook. Do I have to download them? If so where from? Are any free? Do any come on discs?

Thanks in advance. ๐Ÿ™‚

You can obtain Mac games from the Apple Website.

Macbooks are pretty underpowered in the graphics card dept. Maybe put on a bootcamp partition and play some older windows games. Can get classic games like Half Life 2 etc for peanuts off Steam and should play at a fairly decent frame rate.

What Jamie said - if it's a 3yo Macbook it's going to be relatively slow in the gfx card area, but you should still be able to run things like Half Life, HL2, C&C and suchlike for not much cashish.

Things like Starcraft 2 come as Windows/ Mac version, but I'm guessing your set up won't be up to spec for that ๐Ÿ™

Have you tried the app store?
What model of macbook is it- if it's anything like mine (2.4 core2duo and integrated graphics), then you'll be pretty limited..

Couple of freebies here from bigfishgames https://store.bigfishgames.com/biz_dev/coupon.php?affiliate=borders but they won't appeal if you want death and destruction.

Try the http://www.humblebundle.com/ pay what you think it is worth, give some of that to charity and the games should run on a less powerful machine. Plus once you get it you can download any of the games for Windows, mac or Linux. All good games. Especially braid and world of Goo.

"Good point. His Macbook should be able to run Angry Birds"

Best check first Angry Birds has some specific requirements for it to run on a Mac.
