maybe this was a tactic to lure out the assassin, one that almost backfired... still doesn't explain why the waif didn't just finish her off while she was in bed off her face on opium...?

Not the greatest tactic. What was the plan that didn't end in her getting stabbed in the guts?

mahalo

still doesn't explain why the waif didn't just finish her off while she was in bed off her face on opium...?

Because she was egotistical and conceited. She wanted to gloat to Arya before finishing her, therefore she wasn't really "no one" either.

Also stabbing her in her sleep would have been pretty shit dramatically.

Could have given her a few pokes just so she'd wake up, but not be able to ninja flip out the window.

Or chop her feet off....that'd get her attention, keep her alive, but stop her running.

now writing stuff without the books to guide them and I think this is a worrying example of that. It's the lazy fantasy trope writing

I'm minded to give this slight dip in quality some comparison:

Perfect quote for the day Oscar P's back in court 😉

I agree the arya part was a bit weak, but the Hound and Bronn more than made up for it. The reunion of Brienne and Jamie was good also.

The hound is my favourite character, he is a bit like Eeyore from Winne the pooh, but with psychopathic murderous tenancies 😀

I wonder why they needed to cast a tall person given that they've trebled his height for the show? Maybe there's something in the way he moves that makes it look more realistic.

Episode of the season so far, will be hard to beat that.
Fantastic battle scene, and it looks like the Queens are the one calling the shots?

Good to see Drogon and siblings getting a workout - but I can't help thinking the How To Train Your Dragon did ships vs dragons much better.

They were in real trouble there until the [s]elves[/s] Vales showed up. 🙂

Also, why did no one give the giant some blimmin armour?? Wrap that guy in some thick plate and he'd have been a tank.

A big ass sword might have helped too. They could at least have let him loose a few shots from his massive bow. He could have hit the enemy lines long before the battle started.

Well following the great advice of his sister he definitely didn't fall into the - he is the one setting the trap/don't fall for the trap...

There was a pic on facebook this week, the real game of thrones is between these 2
[img] [/img]
After that second half of the episode written by popular demand 🙂

Oh and line of the week

'I'm up for anything really...'

[img] [/img]
I think we done Bronn proud there

Did the Winterfell battle scene remind anyone else of the start of saving private Ryan.

Episode gets a 9.5/10 from me, losing half a mark for a lack of Brienne of Tarth.

y'see these aren't spoilers. They're enhancers, sharpeners, amuse bouches... As in I'm very much looking forward to seeing tonight's episode.

(I was going to say 'frothing' but let's be honest, very little makes me froth these days and a good telly programme is unlikely to do the trick.)

Although I try not to spoil, you really do need to get off the internet for the rest of the day.

That battle was awesome, and I watched it on a phone, sitting on a train.

Going to watch again in full gore-hd surround sound tomorrow.

How did the Dothraki Khalasar make it over to Meereen?

Have they got access to the Little Finger teleporter?

They were only in Vaes Dothrak - looks like it's a few days ride across the Dothraki Sea...

To be fair, the Eyrie to Winterfell is about the same distance. Just seems like everyone can conveniently move about a lot faster in this season.

Is there any legal way to watch GoT in the UK without giving money to the Murdoch empire? I had a quick look at HBO Now but that seems to be US only.

Not as it airs.

Can buy from Google Play / iTunes (not necessarily the UK store) almost as soon as the series is done.

Now TV is £6.99 a month. Probably the least you can give to Murdoch and watch as it airs. That said, the first few episodes of season 6 have dropped off now, so you might as well wait.

Personally I just watch it on YouTube.

The "Game of Thrones Updates" channel usually has the entire episode in 5 to 10 minute chunks within a few hours of it being out.

Then I follow up by watching Charlie on Emergency Awesome to get any details I missed.

Monday morning goes quickly at work 😉

Nah, ghost would have been boring. Eaten by his own is better.

Really good episode, although I don't feel I was left as feeling as awed as the hodor ending a few episode before.
