Spores come from the gills underneath in a fungus like that, have you just broken the surface and gone through? They look pretty manky - were they rotten?

I can identify about 6 or 7 types in a deli but I will only eat 2 types that I find in the woods (ceps and chanterelles) because they're the only two that I can be SURE that I haven't mixed up with something nasty.

I often give up on about £30 worth of mushrooms because I don't trust my judgment.
