Hi All
My son had an accident just over one year ago and is now permanently in a wheelchair. He has done amazingly well over that year and has managed to achieve lots of goals that he wanted to achieve.
However, the one thing that alludes him so far is being able to ride a mountain bike. However, he did try a Bowhead which is an amazing bit of kit! One downside is the price...
So he is fund raising to try to buy a bowhead, if you would like to donate then great (and thank you), there is a video attached that explains his journey and his hopes
Done, good luck!
I am so in.
Bumpity bump!
Donated.
@Mark can this be a sticky before it gets lost for good?
Good luck with the fundraising. As an off road handcyclist myself I know how amazing these things are. Have you also pursued grants for it? E.g. the Bruce wake trust? The back up trust may also be able to point you in the right direction. You won't get the full cost but any contribution helps.
@DaveP I have asked a friend to send me a list of useful organisations/potential grant givers. Will PM it to you once I have it.

Such shit luck getting that injury but v inspiring to watch the vid and see the ambition.
Also donated. What an inspiring young man! I'm sure he'd rather be uninspiring and have use of his legs, but absolute props to him for his positivity and determination; well worth a modest donation ...
Done - very inspirational
Bowheads are awesome, terrifying, brilliant and bonkers (and spendy). I rode one at GT last summer and had a blast.
Very happy to donate to get DavePJunior riding again. Best of luck.
Edit, just watched the video. Tom looks like an awesome lad, you must be very proud of him.
Shared to lazycheatingbastards.com, err, I mean emtbforums.com
Donated - Good luck to the lad.
Only posted here to bump the thread.

Not sure where he is but worth having a look at adaptive rider collective who do some great work.
Thanks Keith, looks like they are in Scotland and he is Wiltshire/Birmingham.
Thanks everybody, Tom is eternally grateful for all the donations so far. It looks like he is close to being able to get one due to everybody's generosity!

Seen from the vid you've been to Adaptiv-Sports for a demo, great bunch of guys

Hopefully, not to long until you reach your target.
Donated - good luck!
No worries. Was even if he wanted a chat about anything adaptive as Neil is pretty decent and has a bowhead currently. Hopefully he reaches his target soon.
Done, good luck!
Donated. He seems like an absolutely top guy. Best wishes to you all.
Done & best wishes for his future.
Done, ride fast & jump high Tom!
Lovely update on his Gofundme page 🙂
Although it’s not the reason why I contributed, it’s the first time I have received an email with this type of update from anyone I have backed and it gave me a nice feeling that I made a (admittedly small) contribution to get the lad back doing what he loves.
whooohoooo
I've been grumpy all day but that really lifted my mood.
😀 🙂 😀 🙂 🙂
Ace news 🙂
I thought I'd put some in originally but not sure I did, so there's a bit in the pot now 🙂
Thank you to everybody who has helped make this happen!
Over the last few days both my son's and I have been riding locally off-road. Something 12 months ago I did not think I would be saying ever again. The smiles, all around, have been magical.
Thank you donations, thanks for sharing or just thank you for your thoughts!
