I am still yearning to be a starship trooper and have someone fall in love with me.

No go as yet.

Hover boots.  When I was a kid, we were told we'd all be getting about on hover boots around about now.  And having pills instead of actual food.  It's still Crocs (non-Levitating) and fish finger sandwiches here. Tomorrow's world my arse!

Always tickles me that under the geneva conventions, blinding laser weapons are outlawed. But it is absolutely fine to have laser weapons that just kill you, or cut your arms and legs off, or boil your spleens or similiar.

Tell the Chinese to stop doing that, then. They’ve been using lasers against ship crews who are allegedly intruding into ‘China’s territorial waters’, something an international court has already said is illegal.
The thing is, military spec directed energy weapons aren’t really suitable for use against personnel, but they’re ideal for use against missiles, drones, aircraft and such; no allowance has to be made for ballistics, and manoeuvres and course deviation, the beam is travelling at light speed, not so many meters per second.

No suggestions on the love front but have you considered signing up for the Helldivers to hand out some democracy?

being blind terrifies me. that and quadriplegia, a cruel life sentence.

Being suddenly blind in the middle of a battle? even worse.

The other things are OK (in war) becasue they are attempting to kill, just being unsuccessful.

I guess walking round with apple vision pro goggles on constantly would prevent this. The modern equivilent of the WW2 civilian gas mask?

Parcelforce. No need to besmirch the fine carriers of his majesty's mail service.

The late, great and absolutely bonkers Kaesae.  He never did explain where he got all those high value bike frames from did he?
