Hagis - dried blood that has little flavour, but the same texture as unmixed polyfiller

Dried Blood? Are you sure you're not thinking of black pudding?

[img] [/img]

Black Pudding is basically cooked blood.

Haggis is sheep heart, liver and lungs, minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt.

Haggis doesn't contain blood

Ingredients.

1 sheep’s pluck. i.e. the animals heart, liver, and lights (lungs).
Cold water.
1 sheep’s stomach (empty).
1lb lightly toasted pinhead oatmeal (medium or coarse oatmeal).
1-2 tablespoons salt.
1 level tablespoon freshly ground black pepper.
1 tablespoon freshly ground allspice.
1 level tablespoon of mixed herbs.
8oz finely chopped suet.
4 large onions, finely chopped.
(lemon juice (or a good vinegar) is sometimes added as well as other flavourings such as cayenne pepper)

Mussels and any other mollusc type thing.

They are filter-feeders. They live by sifting fish poo. They grow incredibly well around the ends of sewage pipes.

Why would you want to eat that?

...Cows on the other hand are disgusting and eat in amongst their own faeces in the field.

Mine don't.

Anchovies, olives, celery, aubergine, snails, shellfish.
Tried them all, hate them all with a passion.
Peanut butter and marmite fine

Anyone else see the foodie programme with the Italian cheese with maggots in? Give most things a try but the line gets drawn there. Just nasty.

I used to hate olives. Couldn't understand why anyone would eat them.
Then a few years back I had a sudden urge to try them and discovered that my palate has obviously changed because now I really like them.

Tripe, Cod Roe, Snails. Everything else is fair game. Can't believe the range of very ordinary food that folk on here hate!!

Tripe is about all that disgusts me.
Lamb brains, balls, snails, witchetty grubs, are all OK.

Very fatty ham is a bit pukey, but I'll eat it.

For those robust palates protesting that all food is lovely, I refer you to the thread:

Blimey, there's some fussy folk on here! I'll eat most things but for some reason cannot stand the taste of mayonnaise - it's devil spunk.

Not keen on steak tartare either but I think it's psychological.

As did a lot of cheese historically before the Health & Safety Police had their way.

in one of the first references to Stilton cheese, in 1772, novelist Daniel Defoe took note of “mites so thick around it that they bring a spoon for you to eat the mites with, as you do the cheese”

Oh and Sweetbreads are the thymus glands and pancreas glands of lamb, beef, or pork. They are not testicles.

Tomatoes.
Beans (especially of the baked variety).
Mushrooms.
Liver.

There's just no reason for them.

I wonder why people are so keen to banish quite ordinary foodstuffs ? I mean, by all means don't eat them if you don't like them, but tastes differ! On Friday I listed the ingredients of my yummy sandwiches, and I think each and every item has been dissed by at least one person 🙁

Most of the things mentioned here are absolutely delicious, Haggis is fantastic.
The things I will agree with are Marmite which is like licking the inside of an oven, and anything that's come out of the sea. Surely pouring a bag of salt into your mouth would be cheaper and produce exactly the same taste sensation.

Have you ever tried this?

Envisions Samuri licking out an oven - random!

Cucumbers. Even when you pull the bloomin' things out your sandwich their horrid taste ruins it.

Goats cheese gives me the boak.

Got to agree with those who won't eat filter feeding molluscs, ewww!

Oooh you're a fussy lot!

Not too keen on some offal, but will eat all of it really and sweetbreads properly prepared and cooked are yum, but no one does it these days... Wouldn't touch anything which involved avoidable cruely see the boiled cat post above.

Love seafood, but after I had to clear a deck full of off bait whelks, I can't even look at 'em now.

Stuff I'm not too keen on - McD's, KFC, PizzaHut etc - taste great, but just utter rubbish. I wish my kids didn't love them so much.
