On our hols, we saw a few of these in the air and saw one land in the distance but did realize just how big they were.

Been flown in a few (DH Beavers) in Canada and off the Barrier reef.

Great landings and take-offs. Very strange being in a small boat in a bay waiting for a plane to pick you up and seeing a whale come up where it is about to land.

Ecranoplan?

I was staying in Loch Rannoch youth hostel and a Swiss couple arrived by seaplane. What a great way to see the country!

An ekranoplan isn't a plane though is it, it's, well, an ekranoplan.
Still bloody awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

Flew on one in Vancouver, stopping at the little bays around. Superb. Really weird watching the sea rushing up towards you when landing.

The Shorts Sunderland is the one for me.

If I was Kermit Weeks with an inexhaustible supply of cash I'd convert the Sunderland into a flying caravan and doss about the world doing outdoorsy stuff.

A flying boat service currently covers the West Coast of Scotland, I frequently see them flying about showing off.

If I could earn the same money as I am on now flying the DH Beaver Floatplane instead of pressing buttons at 37000ft then........

Proper flying.

Macchi M.C.72, 440mph. Still the fastest piston engine flying boat after 77 years.
