Any advice..?
My wife is after a fitness watch thing for her birthday. One that tracks activities, steps, HRM etc.
I've no experience of these, I use my Garmin when I'm out on the bike but she's looking for one of these wear it all day type things.
Can anyone recommend one. She walks a fair bit, runs now and then, uses a cross trainer thing and bikes.
Or should I buy her something else for her birthday..?
Garmin forerunner 15 will do the business of activity + gps watch + hrm when she wants it
I've got one!
The Garmin Vivosmart.
Things I'm using it for
- Vibrating silent alarm (so I don't wake GF as I get up earlier)
- Text/call notifications when out riding, or when phone is on silent
- HRM/run recording with ANT+ strap
- Controlling music on my phone, both in the gym and at my desk
- Vaguely tracking steps/activity (not that bothered about this bit)
- Reminding me to move occasionally when I'm being a sloth
It also does
- Kind of sleep tracking
- Remotely makes the phone ring if it's in range (and even if on silent). Handy when you've put it somewhere near and forgotten.
- It vibrates when you go out of bluetooth range, i.e. you've wandered away from you phone or your phone has wandered away from you
- Links to ANT+ speed/cadence sensor
I like it, mainly for the uses listed. I wanted notifications and a silent alarm mainly. Be careful which phone you want to use it with, it's only been tested against certain ones (though may work with others that have Bluetooth 4.0 and above).
You're buying at the wrong time, as all these things have just been in the sales.
Fitbit Charge HR looks up your alley, tho.

...shame Fitbit are being ****ers and not saying when it's going to be released.
