What's emerged for me is that Craig Charles in the afternoon comes across as smug and laughs a lot at his own jokes. And his interviews have been poor. Hes been dining out on the fact he called Robert plant 'bob' ever since. Keaveney interviewing robert plant would've been great, as a big led zep fan. He interviewed Johnny Marr IIRC and it was like listening to a warm pub lounge conversation, full of insight
I remember CCinterviewed Kelis and I think Courtney Barnett, all I remember was lots and lots of chuckling at stuff he said
Ezra Furman has been good
Very much this. The first shows he did back in the summer were a bit stilted but he’s sounding like a natural now. Genuinely different selection of music to anyone else’s show too.
Iggy’s show is working well on a Sunday too.
The first shows
heshe did
hoping not to come across as a dick for pointing it out, but ezra identifies as a woman now, and yes, her shows are pretty good. i wasnt sure of her identity either tbh, in fact at first i thought 'he' was the lead singer of vampire weekend, i mean how many ezras are there in music! (george doesnt count)
shows what i know 😀
EDIT: sadly i tend to agree that the CC show isnt really working as well when he covered for steve lamacq. i'll always be grateful for the trunk of punk, but he seems as though hes trying too hard, which he really doesnt need to do.

@sadexpunk
Not at all. They’ve changed how they refer to themselves after I became a fan, and haven’t changed their name, so easy to slip up. Her band is shit hot (think I’ve seen them at least 6 times now) if you ever get a chance to see them live. Various stuff on YouTube but nothing that recent and each album has been quite different so everything had a punky/VU rework on the last tour.
Another recommendation for NTS Radio.
The web interface is a bit crap but otherwise it's absolutely brilliant. It has introduced me to so much new music. I haven't heard Ed Sheen or Adil in a year of listening.
Reminds me of xfm (for those who were close to London in this period). Early 2000 it was really good, then slow degenerated to a lowerst common denominator music.
6 music even has several of the old xfm djs, and really started off very similar to the old xfm. I wonder if the production team have been taken over by the same people who took over and ruined xfm?
@thebrick Xfm was bought by the scum bags that own capital radio.
Nothing good will ever come of that.
I left for a week in Devon and lost reception just joining the m3. On returning home xfm kicked back in at the m25, they were playing eagle eye cherry. The rot set in within a week.
I’m still happy with NME 1 .
Every time I ask Alexa for NME 1 it plays Public Enemy... Not complaining.
