We watched the Royle Family Christmas Special the other night. It’s scriptwriting genius! You can really appreciate just how good she was. So many laugh out loud lines. Well worth a viewing on Iplayer

It's a wonderful life - has to be on Xmas Eve though. We were watching it a few years ago now and as it transpired during the final scene - you know the one - coincided with the exact time of death for my Granny, who I was very close to.
Elf is fantastic, I also love Nightmare Before Christmas but I saw Arthur Christmas yesterday for the first time and loved it.

Futurama's Xmas Story episode is glorious, features John Goodman as a killer robot Santa IIRC.
Dunno where Futurama is screening now though? I was part-way through it on Prime when it stopped being included.

If Die Hard is a Xmas film, why isn't Lethal Weapon ever mentioned in relation to Xmas? It starts with Jingle Bell Rock playing over the credits, and the first time you see Mel G is in a Xmas tree sales lot. There are Xmas references everywhere - it's much more Xmassy than Die Hard.

I think it is important to recognise that Home Alone is not only one of the best Christmas films, it is also one of the best movie ever made. Slapstick comedy, wide range of emotions, great acting, great music, no daft CGI or stunts, not hiding behind massive budget. It is everything that good cinema should be.
