Hey Teej - nbt says I'm posh because I won't eat a pie in the street, however crackers and cheese (and omg there are so many varieties now) are the best accompaniment for this dairy product.

Mmmm crackers.

Bath Olivers are only acceptable as Chocolate Olivers.

For cheese, Carrs, or some form of digestive.

I only dislike crackers as a cheese-to-mouth delivery mechanism as they break too easily and make a mess.

So they fail on the first hurdle, unfit for the only purpose they were invented for.

Water biscuits are best because they don't overpower the cheese but provide a lovely contrast in texture/ a vessel for the cheese and other items such as quince jelly or chutney if the mood takes. Some cheeses are best on their own though.. thinking of compte

I cannot remember the book now and have been trying all day but a classic of english literature has the protagonist bemoaning being given crackers with his cheese rather than bread.  so this has been known for a long long time!

Anyone know the book?  Its bugging the hell out of me.

Agreed, Carrs water biscuits. No need for any further discussion /close thread

😁

On very rare occasions, Cream Crackers with butter from the fridge (so nice and cold on the palate) and very fine Cheddar.
