Hi can anyone recommend a campsite in Cornwall that is not too comercialised? We have a 5 year old and a 7 year old that are both used to camping and finding their own things to do. They love riding their bikes about. Basic facilities would be ideal, somthing like a farm would be great. Any ideas? Thanks Alex

Well, we're off to South Penquite Farm nr Bodmin Moor at the weekend - i'll let you know how it goes!

It looks ace, a working farm that allows real fires, sells food to cook on the fires etc and fairly remote.

Not been before but we are really looking forward to it. We've been told there's no cycling on the Moor itself but we're taking our bikes anyway and gonna do a bit of exploring.

muddydwarf - if memory serves me right there are a few b'ways on the moor, but it is limited for legit' stuff. Your not so far from the Camel Trail, Cardinham Woods and also Lanhydrock now which offer good family pootling.

Highly recommended - close to Sennen walk down through the valley to the local bay, safe play area for the kids and currently an orphaned calf to feed (we were there 2 weeks ago).

Henry's campsite in The Lizard sounds like a good bet. I was there a month or so ago. There were loads of kids there and they have animals too like hens, pigs etc.

Camping Caradon just outside Looe is nice. Nice flat site, great for kids cycling around. Nice little play-park. Clubhouse that does food etc, but is still a nice small campsite. Lovely owners. Facilities excellent, solar showers etc. Looe is a great place, nice harbour & beach, some nice places to eat etc. Makes a good base as the A38 isn't that far away.
Looe has a Caravan Club site but being on a steep slope its no use for kids running around, let alone cycling.
