Desperation knows not of such things
Ah yes, Rich Energy.
Steiner has hinted during this session that Mazepin’s future is not guaranteed. Asked by Scott Mitchell about the situation, Steiner says explicitly that it “needs to be resolved”.
Oof.
Andretti and Haas might be a good fit in a Team America context

**** Yeah!!
From the FIA and F1...
On Thursday evening Formula 1, the FIA, and the teams discussed the position of our sport, and the conclusion is, including the view of all relevant stakeholders, that it is impossible to hold the Russian Grand Prix in the current circumstances.
Those last few words "in the current circumstances" concern me. They should have been clearer and said as long as Putin is in charge and Russia is a threat.
It leaves the door open for them to quickly change their minds and take the $$$!!
Well they've got until September to decide.......
Still shown on the official race schedule.
I had heard rumours that Turkey was poised to replace it.

Turkey '22 was showing on the official site a few days back, I was able to subscribe to ticket news. I think they said it was a 'website glitch'...i.e. somebody clicked publish a bit too early.

Two nice things happened today, F1 did the right thing and withdrew the racw in Russia and Hamilton finished top of the rankings. I appreciate the usual caveats apply but it least it's unlikely to be an absolute dog of a car!
Andretti Global has an engine supply deal sorted with Renault.
F1 withdrew from the Russian GP because of pressure from the drivers who were threatening to boycott the race, it was a decision they were forced into by the drivers, not one made because they are an organisation with morals.
And once again Seb appeared to be the leader and f1's moral compass.
Still going to Saudi Arabia though, yeah?
Morals, schmorals.
Indeed scotroutes.

Call me cynical, but I think it was just because there's a war on and there was really no way of shipping all the equipment in and out of Russia, plus financial sanctions, etc. The race was never going to happen once the war kicked off.
They managed to get everything in and out of Bahrain in the middle of all that fuss in 2012.
Not their finest hour really
Indycar's looking promising this year. Some great new drivers coming through, probably four teams in with a shot at the title. I always though Scott McLaughlin was Aussie, he was racing taxicabs until his first year in single-seaters last year. Turns out he's NZer, same as Scott Dixon. Very impressive weekend for McLaughlin, he seems to be the real deal.

I suspect the big problem for Mazepin will be getting money from Russia to wherever the Hass bank accounts are.
Aye, that and some countries will probably have their own sanctions regarding travel or visa bans for Russian citizens
Looks like UK Motorsport have done what FIA failed to:

Nice
FIA covering itself in glory as per usual. Good to see UK motorsport picking up the slack
Aaaagh - I was hoping he'd do a Rosberg! 🙂
Seems we're stuck with the dodgem car driver for a few years yet...

I guess we will have to wait and see how this season starts to shake out. Still too many unknowns at the moment about who has aced their design and who has dropped a bollock. If there are two or three manufacturers who have aced the design then, combined with the driver line-up, then we may see some more robust defence against Verstappen's driving. I would love to see that - although I'm not sure he is the sort of person who will recognise it as being down to him and won't change. Which is likely to be good fun as it may mean he ends up throwing away potential championships. If he had driven a bit more sagely last season it wouldn't have even come down to a final race shoot out - he'd have had the championship sown up several races earlier.
I'm hoping that different cars suit different circuits so that there's a lot of mixed up grids through the year. I'd love to see Max battling in the pack with Alonso, Norris, Leclerc, etc.

Jeeez - it'd be like the start at Spa 1998 every weekend! 🤣😬

From what I've read and seen the general consensus seems to be (after just one test obviously) is that Maclaren have managed to create the best solution for keeping the airflow under the car from stalling and managed to crate the best side vortices to trap the air flow under the car. That's not to say that didn't have issues with "porpoising" like everyone lese, but it was noticeable that they weren't anything like as badly affected by it as other teams were.
it could be that we see Verstappen, Alonso, and Leclerc fighting it out as Norris and Ricardo bugger off into the distance...Not long now to see!
Interesting to see that people think Alonso will be anywhere but midfield
Mazapin dropped for Fittipaldi according to the Daily Mail
which I won't link
Russia dropped for 2024 aswell

Good
Russia dropped for 2024 aswell
Reading between the lines I think it's pretty much dropped until Russia drops Putin, isn't it?

Merc and Red Bull will have updates before the first race. I'm a McLaren fan and their car looks good, but the first test was just to understand the basics of the cars, the teams haven't started on performance work yet.

I think he's still a top driver, it's just difficult to believe that Renault are going to give him a frontrunning car.
Not sure I’d quite put him in the top group, but yeah mainly don’t see the car being capable
which I won’t link
*polite applause*
Can wholly understand why Mazepin would've been given the boot, but Fittipaldi?
Drive to survive, Season 4; March 11...should be a good one!
PlanetF1 (yeah I know) was reporting yesterday that an Alpine insider says that their car "isn't great"

That's going to be too painful too watch tbh. Maybe a few years down the line, after there's been some seasons to dilute the bit of a messery
Mazepin reportedly set to leave Haas
Possible replacements Fittipaldi or Antonio Giovinazzi....
And with Uralkali out - could it be a return for Rich Energy??
Thing is those reports were all based on someone on Twitter saying it earlier in the day (who provided no other source). Indeed the first comment on that post was "Source: Trust me bro"
Not say it's not happening, just would like to see some better confirmation first.
Just seen this on the BBC
The UK motorsport authority has banned Russian and Belarusian drivers from taking part in events in Britain and Northern Ireland.
However, BBC Sport has been told this would not necessarily prevent Mazepin from competing in the British Grand Prix as the F1 driver super-licence contains a clause requiring national authorities to permit the driver to take part in F1 events.
Bollocks.
I'd guess the only reason Haas haven't announced Mazapin's sacking already is due to legal issues. I bet dear-daddy is employing the UKs finest Russian loving layers to keep him in that seat.
On a lighter note - this is great work! 🙂

Not only is it a great physical likeness, it also has the same amount of charisma.

Now that's uncalled for. Plasticine can be quite entertaining.
