I still haven't figured out if it's the landowner that ends up clearing it. I often take what I can, but some of it is clearly a health hazard.

It will be - council class it as private land.

We used DofE volunteers, and clear @1ton in three days by canoe on Loch Tay.

There's a simple solution to all of this. enforce existing laws and start making a public example of people doing the littering and it'll soon reduce to lower levels.

Talk of blanket bans is extreme. prefer wilder camping myself, but there's nothing wrong with car camping and people stopping of at the side of the road for a night or 2.

People dump rubbish becuase they think there will be no consequences.

plus the ban in loch lomond proves that bans don't work. It just moves the problems on. a total road side ban will just move the problem further in (and make it harder to clean up.).

Bans are a ridiculous solution. Enforce existing laws and catch people in the act and dish out fines.
