I saw someone wearing these the other day, and marvelled that they ever existed - never mind that they still do. Other than for dark Ray-Ban aviators, of course.
A bit like massively wide lapels and ties from the Jimmy Carter-era, don't you think they should have just been consigned to the dustbin of fashion?

With the monstrous great lenses we wore in the 70s a double bridge was de rigeur. Today with my tiddly little Mahleresque lenses and titanium frames a single bridge is fine (though I have still managed to break one).
