Corbyn calling for Johnson to call a referendum, and pushing for the legislation to stop No Deal before any election. Spot on!

Other opposition leaders also sticking to the same line. Johnson has underestimated his opposition, they’re sticking to a combined and agreed strategy.

Corbyn calling for Johnson to call a referendum

Looks well coordinated set of responses between him, Blackford and Swinson.

They have to because they want to stop Brexit by picking it apart bits by bits.

I see that coming long time ago. 😄

Swinson: "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough."

OMG.

On that Clarkson tweet. I'm sure it's been suggested on here before, but I reckon a photo op round Junker's office on the 31st. "Sorry you're leaving" shiny foil sign tacked up over the copier. Slice the "Brexit day" cake, maybe a glass of bubbles, handshakes and smiles all round and front page splash on the evening edition.

Escort the press out the room, tear up the Article 50 letter and we never talk of it again.

Oh, I feel for Jenny Chapman. After all that, she has an issue about sheep with a house of a dozen people left.

That many?
That was something that I remember from the indicative votes. After massive arguments some poor sod would be left there discussing some issue which really should have more people paying attention.
Do wonder what the point of speaking to the empty chamber really is?

Interesting that now the braying mob have all retired to the pub, it's panning out how you'd think UK parliament would work if you'd never actually seen it. This is our flagship democracy in action how the rest of the word thinks it happens.

The more he closes his grasp, the more MPs will fall through his fingers.

Well done Tory party members, you elected the very worst person to do they job you wanted them to do.

Johnson and Cumming now trying to backtrack on their withdraw the whips.
The rebels now have a second chance tomorrow to make it up to the glorious leader.

So Johnson now has to sack 20 MPs including the great grandson of his hero Churchill

The brexiteers really are clueless, moth was utterly useless as leader of common for Tories tonight

At some point leavers will have to stop listening to them scapegoating remainers, the bbc, the eu , etc

And start asking them some tough questions about why the brexiteers had no plan to deliver the brexit they promised....I

Judging by chewys comments though, they'll just keep shooting themselves in the foot until they run out of bullets, asking tough questions is too hard

Nice dig at Boris though: "The govt has committed funds until the end of this parliament, although that may be coming sooner than was anticipated" 🙂

Boris does seem to be lining it up to be the EUs fault rather than it being due to having no plan. It's almost like his objective isn't actually to leave but to stick failure to leave on the EU

Yeah he’s done well, he’s managed to unite a lot of parties in opposition, although a Boris arse kicking party would be an easy sell for anyone.

This is our flagship democracy in action how the rest of the word thinks it happens.

Just the way it should be in the West. Other parts of the world have their own systems.

The brexiteers really are clueless, moth was utterly useless as leader of common for Tories tonight

Let's see how long will the people lend power to the Parliament. 😀

Without the people's support Parliament has no power.

Andrea Loathsome is saying the same, that tomorrow is 'the big vote' and making it sound like they aren't going to expel anyone on the basis of tonight.

I can't see why the rebels vote to allow the House to take control of agenda if they they weren't prepared to then back that agenda, but I'm not surprised by anything nowadays.

Put another way.....so they said they'd do something, then when it comes to it and the information crystallizes they are prepared to rethink and do something else. How undemocratic!

So did mine, Richard Benyon for Newbury. He was always a supporter of May's deal, clearly not a fan of Boris.

Kate Hoey representing the 77% of her constituents who voted remain by voting No there. Bet she’ll be popular next election.

Beeb reporter is now reporting she is backtracking on that and they are getting the boot tonight.
Although how that will work if the local constituency parties disagree, as Hammond's does, could be interesting to see.

Division lists

Huh.

The nays appear to be the Tories, the DUP, John Mann (who?) and Kate Hoey (quelle surprise). No votes for speakers and Sinn Fein.

The ayes make for interesting reading. Of all people, Diane Abbott voted in favour?!

She is planning to quit anyway. Although not sure if that included at an early election.

Before a vote, that might be a compelling threat. After the vote it's cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Ah. Irony.

My MP is a good little Tory and went with Boris. I'll have to paint some motivational statement on the steep hill she has to drive up from here house everyday, TdF style. Any ideas?

Ah. Irony.

Better do that before the vote. Get rid of the lot of them then call a GE or be consigned to history which they are on the brink now ...

If he does that PM BoJo will be seen as someone with strength as it is time to rebuild their party or someone will rebuild it for them.

Some confusion about whether they've lost the whip or not

https://twitter.com/BBCVickiYoung/status/1168999816816398340

Funny if he can't get the election he wants, has to ask EU for an extension & has no majority to do anything

Borrow from Led by Donkeys. Any embarrassing quotes from her in the past about being anti proroguing and so on. If not just quote johnson and co.
Or if you are talented and have time a nice pic of Rees-Mogg showing contempt for proceedings.

My MP is much the same but since it is Shapps nee Fox nee Green no chance of the arsehole taking notice.

I kind of want the commons to do that, just to either force him to stand down as PM or watch him suffer for the next three years, it's more than he deserves.

Every interviewer I’ve watched on TV has tried so hard to goad opposition MPs on the issue of not immediately backing an election without first stopping the Halloween No Deal. None have bitten. All have stuck to the plan, even when mocked and sneered at. Impressive.
