I am looking at something with a bit more warmth. Does anyone use any of the Endura PrimaLoft kit?

I am interested in the gilet, as its small and packable, just looking at your thoughts and opinions on the kit.

Gilet is really good, though too warm for me unless single digit air temperatures.

Have the gilet - not worn it yet as not been cold enough - plus been doing faster road rides
Looks perfect for trundling over a few hills this winter or early morning commutes (if I do any)
Definitely packable

Only the Flipjak, but that's really an after-ride/bivvy layer.

I've got a Marmot Variant gilet which is similar. Light insulation on the front and stretch fleece back and sides. I use it under my Endura waterproof when it's under 5deg. I really like it

Got the gilet too, it's great. Packable and warm. Get one...

Anything with Polatec Alpha insulation is good too (dhb alpha gilet?)

A cycling buddy has the Rapha Brevet Insulated Gilet (Polartec Alpha). Packs easily into a jersey pocket. Looks very impressive warmth vs pack size.

As well as the Gilet, I also have the MTR primaloft jacket - haven’t worn it on the bike yet, but it’s very snug and warm.

I’ve got the jacket but it really only comes out when it’s single digits.

Very happy with it.

Had the gilet for a couple of years now I think, it’s an excellent bit of kit.

I bought the gilet for commuting but it’s too warm for any cycling with an uphill unless there’s a pub at the top to sit outside at.

+1 for Polartec Alpha. Primaloft's basically a synthetic down and fine when standing around, but not great for breathability or wicking. Alpha wicks and dries super fast, way better for active use. The last time I rode a bike wearing Primaloft was around winter 2010 and it was -16˚C - stayed warm but still sweaty.

The only primaloft I like riding in has a primaloft front and a softshell back. Perfect in the winter

Otherwise I’m a big fan of polartec alpha. I wear my rapha gilet most mornings and often on the way home too. Also have a Rab one and its ace

+1 for Polartec Alpha - the only insulation that really works for active wear. Primaloft - OK for standing around but not really for active use as it traps too much moisture

Looks like a nice bit of kit.

Whats the sizing like on them, I know Endura are a bit variable. My MT500 jacket is a medium but all my shorts are large

I’d say they size quite a bit more snug than the MT500 Jacket. I have that jacket, and the MTR Primaloft jacket, and Gilet, all in large.

Gilet is great when you stop for lunch/beer and then keeps you warm when you set off.

Used it on sunday.

Thanks for all the good feedback, so it appears that Polartec Alpha is the way to go...… 🙂
