Trying to use endomondo on my HTC desire but cannot see how to get it to interface with the GPS receiver. Any hints or tips please?

Just downloaded and tried it, think you have to manually switch the GPS on.

I have a GPS widget on my desktop which I toggle 'on' before loading Endomondo. Endomondo then just uses it without me having to do anything.

If the GPS hasn't 'locked on' then the satellite dish icon has a grey block under it with 3 dots in it. Once it locks on it turns to a green blob with a tick in it.

Are you in a 'clear' area so the GPS can get a signal? Indoors or in dense tree cover it can struggle.

EDIT: Takes up to a minute

EDIT2: Map should show your location, yes.

You do need to make sure GPS is on. I leave mine on permanently now (separate bit of the phone settings outside of Endomongo) and it only uses it with Endodildo or maps or whatever. Wait a minute or so for it to 'lock-on' (dude) and then you should be OK. Setting off before it's done the lock 'n' load usually gives problems.

Endodongo is genius for motivating you to beat last months mileage. 99.3 miles for me in September, so I'm off out tonight to do a lap around the block just to get it over 100. *flexes*

If I have mobile data turned on, and am in an area with signal I get a lock in about 5 seconds. I only experience slow lock times if I have data turned off.

GPS Lock will be quicker if you turn it on where you last turned it off. It also helps if you have a good phone/data signal as it will use aGPS to get a faster lock.

Rickos - 100 whole miles???

The live tracking feature is brilliant on endomondo. The wife can now check to see where I am if out on a solo night ride.
