s a different package – or you have to do the initial setup at the postcode area

I would imagine it’s a different package, yes – he said it was about £1,000 a month, which wouldn’t really align with Vanlife

It's not that much..... Nearer 250€ a month. Easy to cover, but **** him.

Had a contact with illiad that costs 14€/month (although I've had a year and they've screwed up as I've still got 50€ credit in my account) and reception in Italy is very good.

sat in a desert on a moonless night and watched his stupid starlink light up the sky.

it was very upsetting

For sure..... The night sky is much more impressive than il Treno di Musk.

yeah, the story you were told doesn’t really stack up - although realising Musk was involved so sending it back is perfectly legit!

There is a monthly subscription which depends on where and how you want to use it from a domestic install at “one” location for £75/m to a business user with 3TB/m traffic at £300/m to get to £1000/m fees you need to be doing superyacht stuff with 1TB/mo connection or doing very remote land access stuff globally in difficult locations where you want your data to have priority - eg news reporters or aid agencies in difficult areas…. These are prices advertised to U.K. customers.

Sounds like the Trump "interview" is going well.

The Elon / Trump interview on X started with an immediate tech disaster:

Musk claims there was a DDOS attack on X — but The Verge is told there was not.

Two hours of those two insane meglomaniacs having a love-in?

No thanks. Surely that falls under the UN description of cruel and unusual torture?

It looks like the whole point of the interview, apart from the usual opportunity for Trump to spout fantasies unchallenged, was for Musk to invent a job for himself in the Whitehouse and for Trump to sleepwalk into offering that job to him.

So there you go - thats how democracy works.

he relies on coming up with ideas

mostly stolen ideas

then gets others to actually make something useful out of them.

and shouts them down/sacks/sues them when they point out how what they're doing is illegal/dangerous/ill-advised.

I’d buy a Tesla made in Berlin, no  qualms.

I'd not buy one at all, ever. I've seen what goes into them, both code and hardware. Unlike Musk i actually do know a little bit about automotive engineering. And i know some of the people he's sacked/shouted down (but no one he's sued).

He used to have a job in the Whitehouse, business advisory board or something I think but sacked it off after a few months.

And in today’s Space Toddler news, Brazil’s Supreme Court has shut down X access there - this is/was X’s 6th biggest user base.

Also appears Bluesky embedding works here, which is nice.

Isn’t this a regular thing? It probably tells you everything you need to know about someone that not only do all his own  children think he’s a total *, but they’re all quite happy to go public and tell everyone, on the record,  just how much of a * you actually are

How much money does it take to distract from the reality that the people who should love you more than anyone, actually absolutely despise you?

I wouldn't put it past him but his firstborn died at 10 weeks. Famously he invented a story about holding him while he died and feeling his last heartbeat, which was all very humanising and sad and turned out to be bollocks, his mother actually did but he just liked the story so he nicked it when it was convenient.

It's usually Vivian that he embarasses himself over now- having literally declared her to be dead and then done a load of tweets in which it became completely obvious he didn't know how four year old children behave because he's never spent any time with any of his ~12 kids, and then got her confused with her twin.

Honestly when he said "I'll give Taylor Swift a child" lots of people assumed he meant "I will make you pregnant". But it seems way more likely he meant "I have if I remember correctly about dozen neglected kids who I have no interest in and can't even tell apart just taking up space, I'll send you one in the post. Child number 7, whatsyourname, you won't remember me because I've barely seen you for the last 4 years but I am legally at least your father, now get in this bag"

$252.8Bn seems to do the trick nicely apparently... His current net worth according to google.

Though I'm not sure that's the threshold... Pretty sure he was a **** to all of his kids before he evn became a Billionaire, so he might have been over egging the pudding somewhat recently!

If you have to expain the joke it kinda ruins it, but here goes...

"Character limit" is the title of the book.

Twitter increased the text character limit per tweet a while back, so now you can type a 'missive' rather than a 'one-liner'.

But it also works on a higher level... as in, the personal intelect/character of Elon musk, has reached its technical limit.

I have only just seen this :

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2024/sep/21/elon-musk-backs-down-in-his-fight-with-brazilian-judges-to-restore-x

That is quite a comprehensive defeat for Musk considering the rhetoric coming out of him recently.

Yes, but in the meantime, he's been focussing his efforts on generating AI images of Kamala Harris in a bright red Communist uniform and posting them on X (this is the first time Google has even seen this image) saying this is how she sees herself.  Additionally stating that under Harris and the Dems, SpaceX will never get to Mars despite almost all of his big ticket contract items having been made under democratic governments (Obama and Biden) and NASA funding only restricted in both administrations due to vast external circumstances (financial crisis and covid).

Bell End.

What Musk wants is to do whatever he wants without ANY oversight.  He wants to deregulate rules regarding space flight (SpaceX), environmental damage (SpaceX Tesla), social responsibility (SpaceX, Tesla AND X) etc.  He wants to stop any form of unionisation or worker rights for any of his workforces.  He wants to pay little or no tax on salary, profit and shares.   DT is highly likely to give him that so long as he keeps massaging the big orange Wotsit's ego (all articles), bank balance (contributions) and balls (X interview).

He's a on a continuum of tech bosses  who seem to genuinely think that becasue they've made money 1. the normal rules shouldn't apply to them and 2. they should be allowed to make decisions outside of their organisations that effect the rest of us becasue they consider themselves to be v smart despite all the evidence to the contrary.  c.f. Peter Theil's comments on democracy for example

I've just bought a Tesla, the douchebaggery of Musk made that decision a fair bit harder than it would otherwise be.

Ultimately though, it seems particularly for the course.

On a regular basis, I use the services of corporations headed up by Gates, Zuckerberg, Bezos, the Google gang as well as the faceless bosses of various financial institutions.  Subverting democracy and scrambling for money and power is life to them.

I wonder which of them will be considered the dodgiest of them in fifty years time?

My gut says Google, closely followed by Gates.

For all the shady stuff Gates has done, he has also done/is doing a lot of philanthropic work too, regarding malaria, infant mortality in India, etc. Maybe just because he's getting old wants to leave a better legacy but in my mind it does help offset his past dickishness?

Does Musk do anything similarly altruistic or is he just a total C unit?

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2024/09/cards-against-humanity-sues-spacex-alleges-invasion-of-land-on-us-mexico-border/

The makers of the card game, cards against humanity,  bought some land on the Texas / Mexico border to wind Trump up over his border wall, and they now claim SpaceX illegally occupied and trashed the land, and are taking legal action against SpaceX.
