We need a strimmer to try and wrestle our garden under our control.

Used them when i was wee helping dad etc and always remember they used a spinny peice of plastic string that invariably lasted about 3 minutes.

Are they still like this or are there different systems? Anyone recommend one or do the usual suspects like Bosch and Black and Decker represent safe bets?

The obvious answer is 'go to a shop and look for yourself' but i would rather go with recommendation rather than the cheapest one in B&Q

Get a petrol one they are more robust with no cable issues.
