Hi

Ive been looking to buy some car parts off ebay for a while
I know the going rate and am happy to pay it

However I have just seen an auction about to finish from a new member with 0 feedback
Understandably people are a bit shy of bidding on this and the price is currently a bit less than it would be

Now we all have to start somewhere but if the 0 feedback person turns out to be a crim what security do I actually have in reality?

Im keen to see what experience any of you have actually had in this scenario

The goods are worth about £200 and I'll be paying with Paypal

Cheers

If you are paying with paypal you are generally ok, i had a problem with a newbie when an item didn't arrive and got a refund via paypal with no probem, it can take a little while though.

Exactly the same protection through paypal that you would have if they were more established *I think*

I have just started selling on the bay and have zero feedback at the moment - obviously I know I'm honest but others don't. I guess it is somewhat moreof a gamble than someone with a track record. My solution was to offer cash on collection, that way I can't take your money and run. If the seller is offering this option and you are worried (and close enough) perhaps pick up?

If someone has zero feedback then as IamSparticus states you are protected. However, the problem with newbies is that they are not always as accurate in describing the condition of what they are selling as you might want (unless of course the goods are brand new). Best course of action is to ask some questions and see how responsive they are. If they are very slow or evasive then best to avoid.

Ask the seller if cash on collection is OK, even if you are miles away. You will get an idea from his/her response (or lack of it) - make your own mind up from that....
