[#2820875]

Bought an item off Ebay that was significantly not as described. I have launched a dispute via Ebay asking to post item back for a full refund.

Do i or should i open a dispute via Paypal also?

No real experience of disputes so am a bit unsure.

I was in your position a couple of months ago, just opened a dispute with ebay, didn't bother with Paypal. After the seller still refused to refund, ebay sent me pre-paid postage to return the item and refunded me the full cost + original postage. Excellent service.
If the seller knows what they are doing, they should just refund you once you open a dispute. If you are in the right, ebay will take the money from them and give it to you.

UPDATE.....

I have returned the item which was tracked and shows as delivered yesterday and signed for. I have as yet not recieved any notification of a refund being started issued. Now thw seller agreed to through my ebay dispute.

The dispute case is due to close tomorrow automatically?

Will that mean i get no refund or should i escalate it to Ebay again?

This has been a long drawn out process so far and the seller is not being at all helpful and leaves all communication right to the last.

Advice?

it might take a while but you will get your money back as ebay always seems to take the side of the buyer.

My God!!!!!!!!

This seller is really p*&^ing me off now.

Opened Dispute.
Seller agrees to refund on the last day of case.
I send at my expense (Tracked/Signed for) items.
Seller issues refund on last day again of response time.
I wait until today for the money to clear Paypal as its Pending until today.
I then check today and see the refund is REMOVED!!!

I contact Paypal...useless "you'll have to see Ebay, nothing to do with us" (I thought i was protected by using Paypal??)

Just contacted Ebay who are now going to look into it and get back to me in 2-4 days time then if refunded will be another 5-7 days.

I opened the case at the beginning of June. Not Happy!!!!!!

Join the queue... Ebay screwed me over twice in the space of about a month, with a similar situation each time. I didn't get my money back 🙁

On the plus side, the guy behind Paypal is currently paying for large amounts of rocket development (Elon Musk), so your hard-earned is doing something useful - hurrah!
