[#10025328]

My heels especially look and feel terrible. Being a teacher I'm on my feet all day, and I'm sure cycling doesn't help either.

I've tried pumice stones, files, foot creams, etc. but I'm sick of the skin cracking. It's quite painful sometimes.

Has anyone tried those foot peel treatments like Footners or Baby Foot? Google for pics.....looks disgusting but satisfying!

Even if they work half as well as promised it'll make a massive difference.

I think I'm beyond creams ☹️

It's the last resort of a chiropodist or one of the DIY foot peel treatments.

I used to get it from being barefoot on hot beaches all day causing the skin to callous and dry out. The solution in my case was a lot of cheap moisturiser (E45) rubbed in, two or three times a day. I'd pack it into the heel of my socks when I wore them and then keep making sure there was a lot moisturiser in there at all times. The softness came back, the cracking stopped.

There is a good chance it is caused by fungus, try an anti fungal treatment and spend as much time as possible barefoot and/or in sandals (as a teacher you have no credibility in the eyes of your students anyway).

...thread resurrection/update.

Not a fungus, I do occasionally get a bit of athletes foot between my toes, but this isn't the same.

I bought and tried one of the foot peels that are on the market. I was expecting great things based on the videos and reviews that are on youtube.

However, it appears I'm immune to whatever chemicals they use in them 🙁 6 days since using it and nothing has happened. Maybe a little bit of peeling by the nails, but not the skin-shedding armageddon I was expecting.

Oh well, best get the chiropodist booked.

Sudocrem slathered on and massaged in 3 times a day. My feet are horrible, and I have to wear combat boots all day. But this keeps them soft and supple.

I started doing this on the PQO course at Sandhurst and was really suffering. I saw a difference in a week and after a month or so my feet were great.

Try it for 10 days and see what happens. Few quid a tub, what you got to lose?

Like MSP said earlier, chances are the op's condition is caused by fungus. I was given the same advice by a qaranc nurse, and was adamant he was wrong. Turns out he wasn't.

Yikes! Don't Google foot condition stuff. Horrendous images 😮

I get something, more skin peeling, redness and sweaty but it's always the right hand foot. Not the dry cracked stuff though.

ped egg........think cheese grater. A good grate of affected area after a long foot soak (bath) will get rid of a lot of the dead skin after a couple of weeks, then moisturise with foot cream. I reckon i dropped a shoe size when I first used it!

Try climb on balm or other beeswax based balm. Works wonders, but gets bloody expensive if you cake your feet in it every 10minutes!

One of the ingredients of sudocrem is beeswax along with lanolin which is well known for healing cracked skin.

Flexitol Heel Balm.

Don't know what's in it, but it works for me.

If you've got athlete's foot there's evrey likelihood the fungus is all over your feet and your shoes and the floors of your house.

Shea butter is amazing for dry skin but I would go and see the Dr first about a course of anti-fungal tabs and cream.

That is why I suggested tea tree oil as they are anti fungus and your feet will not smell even if you wear your shoes entire day. It is much more effective then other expensive foot spray.

My girlfriend swears by Vicks. Lathers it on her feet and puts socks on for bed - not every night mind, more of a treatment type thing.
