handed in notice 2 weeks ago to a job I love and am good at although was getting little bored but always do in the summer. I'm in sales and cover the north. Accepted a national sales manager role but keep getting cold feet....firstly they expect me expense fuel and accomodation and claim it back but they have agreed to get me company credit card, they also said I would get a Passat estate or equiv I.e skoda superb, insignia......today was asked what colour Citroën c4 picasso I want!? I would never want one! Asked current employer if I can retract my resignation. My line manager seems happy for me to stay and have telephone meeting with the MD on Monday. Should I take the new job even though I feel "had" by them or beg to stay on Monday? What's the answer guys?
Ask yourself why you wanted to leave in the first place.
A company car is just a car. Expenses will be paid.
So, why did you want to leave?
crikey lad. you've done a proper job on yourself here havent you!
if you like it and are happy there i'd stay. if this new company cant get their shit together before you even start with them then how are they gonna treat you once you start with them? better the devil you know......
you need to be honest about youre reasons for wanting to leave. if its all about the Benjamins then you need to work out how much the extra cash means to you.
Ring the new company, voice your concerns. Either it's a mistake or it's a bait-and-switch. Ask them, directly, why the package they're giving you differs from the one offered. If you can tell them to get stuffed and stay where you are anyway, what have you got to lose?
Ask if the new place can get you a fuel card instead, but it's not out of the ordinary to expect you to pick up hotel bills yourself & claim them back.
You're going to switch to a job over a car and a job title? LOL!
I don't know what you are selling but at the current economic climate ... the new company is going to own you big time. They don't give you a nat'l sales manager for nothing and most probably want you to bring in "huge" sales.
Stick to you current job unless you want to be a tool.
If you're as good as you think you are then ask for more responsibility and help your current company grow, then see yourself grow with the company.
p/s: the new company sounds like cowboy ... yes, been there done that. Use you're own credit card and claim back later ...
Although if the company goes titsup, it'll be you paying the credit card bill yourself, as happened to Race Face employees I believe...
firstly they expect me expense fuel and accomodation and claim it back
I never minded this - got me a zillion air miles.
Hmm, the way your new place are behaving sounds familiar. Anything to do with solar PV?
Just tell 'em you're not joining unless you get some car mats and mudflaps to clinch the deal.
