These are usually stupid. They offer say a 2 year warranty on a £750 telly for £150 say. In order for that to be statistically worth it the telly would have to have a 20% chance of expiring within 2 years. If it did, I'd not touch it with a barge pole!
Curry's etc rely on commission from those warranties for their profit margins - they discount their new prices to compete.
