I thought it was pretty good with a couple of laugh out loud moments.

Can't decise whether he is a genius or a lucky bullshi##er though.

Loved the Dirk Gently books. Have they made it into a TV series or is it a one off film?

Yes

Loved it

He's both - lots of knowledge of seemingly random topics combined with a devil-may-care attitude. fabulous character ๐Ÿ™‚

Might have to dig out the books again once the series has finished

Not overwhelmed. I guess I'll probably watch the next one, but can think of several other shows I'd rather watch.

I really enjoyed it, but the wife thought it was unrealistic. But she likes Silent Witness, so ignore her opinion.

I chuckled. Once. But I did not switch it off. May be a grower.

Douglas Adams was the genius, I'll watch the next one to see how it goes

It's reassuring that I'm not alone in my assessment - I was expecting to like it more.

A pleasant hour's viewing but then so is Top Gear and look how that divides opinions.

The writer/adapter/screenplayist only did it on the condition that he wouldn't follow the book. Too many aspects of the book wouldn't translate to screen, and doing it "wrong" according to fans of the book would be inevitable.

Edit. I thought it was well done. Obviously silly, but funny enough to carry it through. I enjoyed it so much I left the telly on and got sucked into "Knuckle" which ended way past my bedtime.

In Sherlock's shadow for me.

The opposite is true for me, I find Sherlock has massively failed to deliver on the hype that surrounds it, apart from hound of the baskervilles which was pretty good, the rest have been all about image and lacked any real intelligence in the plot.

Dirk Gently on the other hand seems to deliver more depth, while appearing quite lightweight on the surface, at least so far.
