Looking on ebay at Gaggias, has some contact off here but noting coming to fruition 🙁 NEED a new machine this week a sthe old one is terminally ill!!
This is on offer at £135ish at John Lewis and i could collect tomorrow BUT i can buy a new Gaggia for £210 from coffee italia https://www.coffeeitalia.co.uk/gaggia-classic.html

decisions decisions 🙂 Is the De'longhi a viable alternative? Seems like lots of mod options on the web etc that can be done to play with the de'longhi!

I've got a Dedica which I use every day, had for nearly two years now. I have been really impressed by it for the money.

I was recommended the dedica by a friend who was raving about it. I have been using it daily for about 8 months now. It's quick, easy to clean, easy to use and makes half decent coffee. Since then I've recommended it to a colleague who is also very happy with it.

Doesn't take proper baskets - only pressurised ones, which seriously limits its appeal.

Always amusing to see the specs on home machines - '15 bar professional pressure'. I haven't used more than 6.5 bar for 5 years in my shop or in the warehouse and I don't know a specialty coffee shop in the country that uses more than 9.

It does take unpressurised baskets - lots of info on the web 👍🏼

👆 This plus the plastic insert in the basket. Plastic and high temperature not for me.

Go for Gaggia Classic instead.

Neither ( and I say that having owned 4 gaggia variants over the past 20 years), I’d choose a sage duo temp refurbished for £230, far superior in extraction due to a very accurate pid, you have to price in a decent grinder if you don’t already own one

It looks like it does, but they're a weird size and almost certainly crap. I wouldn't touch anything other than a VST or IMS Precision basket and they don't make them in that size IIRC.

Yes, I also recommended it to my Bro-in-law because we could not find Gaggia Classic at the time of his visit. The next best one available at reasonable price was Dedica at that time so he bought one.

The Dedica is good but I just don't like the plastic insert but part from that it is fine and rather good.

I think you can take out the plastic insert out but do double check on that.
