Anyone here commute by bike on the Deeside way (Aberdeenshire)? I'm starting a new job on Monday on Union Street and live in Banchory. Toying with the idea of driving as far as possible before the traffic starts becoming an issue, then parking up and cycling the rest.

I'm looking for suggestions on where to park. Also wondering whether the Deeside way is any good for cycling on, or is it just a another traffic jam with dog walkers?

The alternative is either catching the bus (1 hour journey) or parking in Westhill and cycling from there.

Opinions and experiences welcome!

Its pretty good from garthdee out

And in the morning fine all the way.

Youll probably park at culter hertage centre carpark id hae thought.

I do culter to garthdee and back most days - sometimes go to duthie park but try to avoid it i ican.

Other than that you couldnt ask for better ( unless it went to dyce ;))

Thanks TR. Can you keep up a fair pace on a road bike, or is it a bit too busy for that?

Well i do about 18-20 mph along it but do slow down for pedestrians and dogs.

On a quiet morning you can do 25mph plus along it without realising ( at 6 am)
