Not sure how accurate this is (found on a friends facebook wall)...and its the Daily Star. Fact or misreporting?
I'd treat the report with a pinch of salt - its easy to read it as if the story its coming from 'the Professor' but actually they're presenting their story to him and he's commenting on it - he only has their version of facts and figures to go on and is theorising around them

Considering the state of the folks out on the streets of Manchester at a weekend I'm surprised not more fall in.
