We're having some work done on the house which has involved plumbing in new drains. Having a look round the work earlier, our two year old managed to get a brush (dust pan and brush sized) and get it into the as yet unconnected loo soil pipe. I've had the vent pipe off, all the way down to the foundations but can't see it. I've put gallons of water down but nothing's popped out in the manhole as i can see. I've put a flexi pipe 2m down it and it all feels smooth under there - and there appears to be no obstacle. Could the brush have been flushed right out before I've spotted it?

I can't see on the plans where they have routed the drains which is frustrating.

How much to get a dyno rod pipe down there?

Are you 100% sure the brush couldn't be somewhere else? Or did you see them do it?

Fork out for Dynorod? Get the kid down there to sort out their own mess, that'll learn 'em.

Dyno rod do fixed prices, just have a look. Cost me £120 18 months ago.

If you are sure the brush is down there it'd be much cheaper to buy a set (or two )of rods from tool station/screwfix etc and rod down from the soil pipe to the manhole.

All good calls. I can't find the brush anywhere else and there was a distinct rattle.

I'll talk to the builder tomorrow.

Speak to thr builder but also call the council drain cleaning team. They charge but not as much as normal and will erect/connect up flexy pipes to 'rod' around down there.

Send the child down the drain to retrieve it?
