I'm beginning to get fed up with them now.

Had an operation 2 weeks ago and I have at least 3 more weeks on the crutches before the cast comes off.

Right now I just want to be able to go for a drive, and be able to go and get what I want when I want it.

Mobility and freedom are underrated. Or at least were by me.

It's a good feeling when you get rid of them though... I was stuck on them for a bit over 4 months, then still dependent on them for a few more after that as I couldn't really walk, the sight of a motorbike with crutches strapped on the side raised some smiles ๐Ÿ˜†

Feb 2013 to June 2013 fractured Leg and Ligament Damage. Was initially diagnosed as a sprain so tried to walk on it, had it scanned no it's broke, 6 weeks in a cast , then 8 weeks in a knee brace with crutches.

Got back to work in August, fell and torn my meniscus lots of limping till December had surgery then 4 weeks on crutches as they did something else in there. Back to work Feb 2014 till June then tore my Achilles tendon on my other leg. Operation to repaie 8 weeks of crutches, 6 weeks of orthopaedic moon boot.

Been back at work a month. I hate crutches, don't want to use them ever again.

I don't know if I could cope with being on them for that long it would wind me up big time.

The first thing I thought of was the pegleg thing but I can't use it because the point of the op was to take a bit out of my knee to put in my ankle. I can't bend my knee that far and putting weight on it like that is probably a bad idea.

I've had to use crutches at various times in the past and rather than getting p'd off with the fact that I'm crocked I've decided to get out and about on them as much as possible. Due to chronic metatarsalgia that I just cannot seem to shake (18 months now of no proper riding and no running, what AM I doing so wrong that I can quite shake it off?) I have spent a lot of time on crutches, especially if I know I'll be covering a lot of distance when out. I've tarted them up with bar tape on the handles and FlexyFoot "suspension ferrules" (genius but overkill if the crutches are not gonna be a long term thing and the other month took part in the Notts half marathon using them. Entered the Edinburgh marathon next year and doubtless I'll have to use them there too. Not gonna let the fact that I need crutches for some stuff hold me back and neither should you guys, get down Wilkos, get some of that spongy handlebar stuff they stock, zip tie it to your handles, get your gloves on and get hobbling! You'd be surprised as to how much of a workout you get and also you get to work on technique. A few plays and soon you'll be bombing about and it's actually kinda fun. Basically, if you're on crutches for whatever reason then that's a bit sh*t so you may as well do whatever you can to make it a bit less sh*t.
