Surprised this hasn't been done but,

It's bad enough that they've changed the number of Creme Eggs in an eggbox from six to five (you know, like real eggs do... oh), there's something more worrying going on.

http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/jan/12/shellshock-cadbury-comes-clean-on-creme-egg-chocolate-change

The unbiased Guardian report states,

No longer shall the egg shell be made from delicious Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate. It will instead be made from disgusting, foul, vomit-inducing โ€œstandard cocoa mix chocolateโ€.

What do other readers think?

Heard the today programme's interview (last 5 min, crap we've run out of content) on it. Frankly I'm devastated. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

I won't be buying any, it's that simple. They'll soon realise their folly and change it all back.

How long before jivehoneyjive links it to lizards and a grainy video found on the Web

Edit I've not ate chocolate since last Feb so it's one less temptation.

Just as long as we don't need to buy insurance or wear a special egg eating helmet, I'm happy

If I ever need to define good parenting... I was diagnosed diabetic at 7, and easter was always a bit tricky with chocolate everywhere. Big eggs were fine, because I could break them into bits but creme eggs were a problem. So my mum cut a creme egg into 4 pieces. That's clearly impossible, but she did it, because good parenting.

And chocolate coins have been cruelly dropped. Don't want to overreact but why didn't they just shoot Santa and cancel Christmas?

Not seeing the problem there TBH, they looked ace but the chocolate made Hershey's taste good. It was like eating brown sand.

Cougar - I have always thought of you as a thoughtful, well balanced sort of chap, but you've let yourself down this time. Cadbury chocolate coins are an institution. You can't just abandon tradition like that. Next you'll be taking QI off the television:)

If them being on sale from 31st Dec wasn't bad enough to stop making them with Dairy Milk, means I'm out!

I'm a chocolatier and listened to the taste test on the today program and it's no surprise what with the current cocoa price being what it is, to be perfectly honest what did folk think would happen to Cadbury's/Dairy Milk when Kraft took them over a few years ago?, you just have to look at Kraft foods product line to realise they are not so much a food manufacturer rather a mass manufacturer of poisonous slurry wrapped up in a shiny eye catching wrappings, disgusting company producing foul products.

And they've roundrd off dairy mik bars on the grounds of the disgustingly titled 'mouth feel'. Yeah right, or to give it it's correct name 'lop 10% of the chocolate off and charge the same'. I may also boycott their products. With the two of us on this thread taking direct action, they'll soon see the error of their ways!

I thought years ago that Cadbury's were gonna have to change the name of their 'chocolate' on account of it not resembling chocolate..

I haven't eaten any of the sugary brown pap since they phased out coconut Boost bars

Hang on, we're at angry dolphins here.

I don't remember Cadbury's ever doing chocolate coins, mine came from the corner shop in a shitty little string bag of the ilk normally reserved for oranges. I may have missed out on something here.

Mighty have just been at our house. I remember as kids they were the thing we most looked forward to at Xmas. They may not survive a latter day reexamination ๐Ÿ˜‰ but I still feel I want to be vexed about the whole thing!

Galaxy was always the king of poor-people's chocolate and Kraftbury's was always going to go downhill

However, whole nut is now almonds ? - that could turn a chap's head ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Someone told me a few years ago that you'll barely see the word chocolate on a bar of dairy milk because the cocoa content is so low it doesn't actually qualify.

All you Cadbury's haters - you might be happy eating your biodymaically grown at the right altitude filtered through beaver pelt and blended with asses milk unobtanium but.....

I WANT SUGAR - REFINED SUGAR - AND FAT - PROCESSED FAT - AND ADDITIVES - LIKE WHEN I WAS A KID, OK?

If you can't get your head round that then frankly you're a waste of skin.

I worked in the factory next to the Cadbury factory in Chirk on night shifts building new concrete frames.
The stink coming from Cadbury at night was awful. Just a seriously sweet stench that even stuck to your clothes.
It put me off Cadburys for ever.
If you want chocolate Lindt is where it's at.

Kraft promised the workers at Cadburys there would be no job losses when they took over. The government waved the takeover through on that basis. Less than 6 months later they closed the factory in Keynsham and sacked everyone - which was clearly their intention from day one. Lying dirtbags. Despicable company. Never eat their horrid products

Intentional streisand effect?

"Oh we are really sorry that you were so worried about our much loved product that you gave it more column inches and TV airtime than we could ever afford. We'll change it back immediately so you can all talk about it again."

There are already two differing Creme Eggs. There is the UK-manufactured flagship, a full 40g of chocolatey egg glory. Then there is its American, dear-god-hide-it-in-the-attic sibling, a wretched creature offering a mere 34g of satisfaction.

This is so wrong! ๐Ÿ˜ก

Us Americans want a bigger one! ๐Ÿ˜ก About the size of a loaf of bread would be fine! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well I did a straw poll last night with my family, from what I saw on Skype (through a very fuzzy image) was Mum & 2 Neices buy the Eggs.

I never knew that.

I still don't understand why, but hey if it's your thing then please do carry on.

Aren't they just too sweet and sickly ?

Too sweet and sickly? Absolutely, that is sort of the point. The chocolate snobs will slate it and remind us it's nor real chocolate, and they're right, but Cadburys Chocolate is delicious all the same. I like real chocolate, but a Cream Egg not made with Cadburys Chocolate is a National Outrage I tell you!

I don't often fancy a sweet chocolaty snack, but when I do it has to be Cadburys. I would never reach for a Flavourless, textureless Nestle Chocolate.

Sadly, like many products that have become the standard in the uk (step forward Robertson's jams) Cadbury's chocolate already contains the minimum amount of the actual product they can legally get away with and the maximum amount of sugar (or glucose fructose syrup in the case of jam). If the legal minimum was reduced, they'd put less in.

Quite. Complaining that Creme Eggs are sweet and sickly is a bit like complaining that rain is wet.

Dairy Milk contains less cocoa and more milk than fancy chocolate, and so what? If I want something milky I'll buy it - if not, I won't.

You can like Dairy Milk, you can like 99.99% dark chocolate if you like, whatever - enjoy yourself. But snobs can all **** off and lock themselves into a small box. You're not better than anyone else.

Dairy milk is chocolate with milk. End of.

Sadly, like many products that have become the standard in the uk

Our supermarkets are full of a wider range of good quality options than they ever have been. Things are far better than they were when I was a kid. So stop whinging. Life will improve!
