I want to post a carbon frame worth £2000. Obviously I want insurance in case of damage, but parcel force charges 4.5% = £90 and the cheaper carriers seem to limit compensation to £1000. Anyone sent something high value and didn't have to pay the earth.

Are you selling it? If so, just insure it for the value that the buyer has paid- thats all you'd be refunding anyway..
