Is it time to assign them to the rubbish bin of history, it seems that only Birmingham are interested in bidding for the 2022 games, and even they are non compliant.

I remember the Manchester games and it was great going to watch some events I would never have seen, plus there is a legacy of some sporting stadiums including the national cycling centre. But I was only interested because it was in town, I have not taken any interest in any of the following games. It just doesn't seem viable as a major sporting event requiring investment to put it on.

And that's without even getting into the whole commonwealth and dreams of empire stuff.
