[#2757887]

got a fifteen year combi in the current house, and considering options on moving house or keeping the place

got radiators throughout the house and the pipework in all over the place (10mm micro bore stuff) as is the gas supply to the combi (under fixed furniture, carpets, hardboard, floorboards etc) - would be a nightmare to rip it all up

silly question time - if i replace the combi boiler (using say British Gas) will they require all the microbore to each radiator to be replaced also? or is all the work basically done in the kitchen where the combi is located?

Can't answer question specifically, sorry. However, when we moved house 6 years ago, we needed to replace the combi boiler which was knackered. Got 3 quotes - 2 local independents who quoted around £1200 for simply replacing the boiler, and British Gas who quoted over two times as much as the others and also stated additional 'necessary' work that was also required.

So, sorry can't answer question, but don't just get a quote from British Gas, get a few quotes (though apologies if you were planning on doing this anyway). Heard similar stories from others too. Just my tuppenceworth.
