Need a simple tasty coffee cake recipe please, got one but it looks like a pain in the arse with fromage frais and marscapone.
Coffee and walnut would be good if you've got it?

From my wife who just made one this week (and it was lovely):
Cake....
300g self raising flour
300g castor sugar
300g stork margarine
2.5 teaspoons baking powder
5 eggs
Make up 2 heaped teaspoons of instant coffee in equal amount of boiling water. Add to mixture. whisk till smooth. pour into 2 8-9 inch tins.
Chopped walnuts can be added to mixture if you like.
Bake at 160 degrees (fan-oven) for about 30 minutes.
Butter cream....
250g butter
460g icing sugar
same coffee prep as above
whisk together with a little boiling water
