I like CB, think she is amiable to most people she is talking to, and does a good job of holding all the jumps between the various segments of coverage.

What i don't really get is the moaning and 'outrage' at what presenters are wearing. Such as helen skelton being lambasted for showing legs in Rio by wearing clothing suitable for the weather ??? yet people tune in to watch guys in speedos and girls in swimsuits yet don't moan about them showing their legs ... get a grip .

She is useless as a sports presenter. There are 3 key elements to sports presenting and she has non of them.

A sports presenter must have a big bushy magnum style moustache, a wide lapelled brown suit purchased at burtons, a kipper tie and a deep gravelly voice born from smoking 40 unfiltered cigarettes a day...

There are 4, four key elements to sports presenting...

and slurred speech from a brain injury incurred playing american football or rugby...

There are 5, five key elements to sports presenting...

I'll go out and come back in again.

A true professional.

To the point of seeming a bit sterile and insincere.

I know Helen Skelton got a bit of attention for flashing her pants but Gary will be presenting the season's first Match of the Day tomorrow evening.

The nation expects...

Id much rather Gabby Logan was the anchor. She's far better than Baldy.

She seems pretty good to me - makes it look easy and has a personality despite the constraints of the medium.

Don't know if she is particularly nice in reality - her remarks to Liam Treadwell when he won the national were revealingly unpleasant. That was a few years ago, mind, so maybe it was just a tin-eared one-off.

I worked at the commonwealth games and can confirm she was an arrogant wee toad. 🙁

I really like Clare. If continuing popularity of the One Show is anything to go by then I think vacuous bimbo presenters of both genders is most folks preference however.

Blading is great at what she does. Inverdale, however, is a sexist idiot who shouldn't be anywhere near the BBC.

She's vanilla to me. I barely notice her, so she does something right. Could someone else do it better? highly likely but it's really not that big a deal.

Another +1 for that.

Anyway, thread title is fundamentally wrong - her job is pretty complicated

Why don't you just all pay a voluntary tax to keep her in a £500m job?

Oh, wait...

Agreed.

I think it's only fair to point out that Balding is not being paid a £500k salary to present the Olympics. Have you all been reading the Mail or something? Her total company earnings were £500k last year - this included her earnings from channel 4 and her book writing royalties.

I'm inclined to agree with Wrecker. She's very innofensive. Who's listening anyway? talk to your wives.

I'm sure her tax will be well managed so she pays as little as humanly possible back to the hand that feeds her.

Hasn't the Beeb stopped its tax avoidance schemes for their star presenters now?!?

Slightly ot but Steve Redgrave just stopped Inverdale mid-flow as he interviewed a New Zealand rowing gold medalist saying that New Zealand TV should interview him first and Inverdale was wrong to grab the bloke as he walked by, classy move.

I would have Clare Balding commentating on my life if it meant John Inverdale was shot into the sun. Loathsome Alan Partridge wannabe.

I think most of the presenters are decent. Adlington and Foster were a bit childish this morning, but they should be allowed to have a bit of fun at work. I'm not a huge fan of the ex super pros like Redgrave and Johnson too serious although I appreciate you need them to explain things. Jonathan Edwards was good, but I've not seen him this year.

Well salaries for the top jobs are way over the top in Britain as market forces only seem to drive wages up for the top earners, never down.
Why is the BBC always singled out for criticism? Wages are high for the top people in other areas of the public sector.
Basically, with the BBC, it's people who have never switched on tv in other countries (Italy for example)to really get a sense of just how good the BBC actually is. The notion that you would get quality broadcasting if only the private sector ran it is frankly ludicrous.

That is her moral and legal* responsibility, so I'd hope so.

*assuming she has a limited company

There is no law that states that a company has to minimise tax or maximise profits or anything that could come close to a legal obligation to do so.

And there sure as hell is no moral responsibility to do so.
