Nice builds everyone. Very nice.
That scale art mog is daft money, agreed.
Got hold of some scrap 4mm alloy sheet built a low CG crawler chassis with it. So transplanted the Mauler axles and gear box into it and Tamiya BlackFoot hard body. I got lucky and it works well. Build inspired by the axial 1/24th scale C10 .Just got body detail and a big grill/bumper to make. Will treat it to some axial axles maybe soon.
Will be able to go out for a crawler session with the kids soon. And might be able to follow theirs now.
Another rainy afternoon in the shed🥸

New bodyshell painted. Need to lacquer it and add some decals out of my Airfix box. Going for a "Space Marines" sort of vibe.

Couldn't sleep, so I finished it.

Got to apply some Helicopter Tape before we run it though.

Well done @plus-one. I made an arse of my decals as Tamiya’s “instructions” for these are indecipherable. That and their position on the sheet bears no resemblance to where they go on the car. Consequently I have a nice understated white escort with black Phat Bodies wheels, instead of the baby blue ones. Actually looks really good. Only thing missing is the body accessories, mine were missing from the box. Contacted them but still waiting for follow up response after the initial “we’ll look into it”. So I’m missing the mirrors, bumpers, but most annoyingly the inside light buckets to fit the leds I’ve waiting.

Cheers @clubby it was a ball ache doing the decals. Far from perfect but I really took my time. Learning curve I’ll get better at them. I’d like to see pic of your escort 🙂

So converted my wl.toys 124019 to brushless 4500kv. Still running a 2s. Its frighteningly fast, easy 45ph (seen same set up doing 50s with foam tyres) and a lot of fun on the estate grassy bit.

Excuse the cameraman, he is only 4

How cool would it be to do a Binky shell? Could be a real challenge though with the pearl stuff.

Not an Escort shocker. I've shoehorned an HPI body onto a Tamiya 2cv M05 chassis hence the jaunty mounting posts. I would have trimmed them but I need them for the 2cv.

It's a leap of faith for mounting/drilling..

It was an experiment. The HPI is a three piece body which was a pain in the arse to be honest. The lexan is as tough as old boots compared to Tamiya. The decals were hateful brittle things that although pre-cut didn't like heat or repositioning.

It's for sale like all the rest, I'm going to do a Cossack Escort next..

Innit?

Day off today after a particularly shitty week.
Took the Lunchbox down to the park and came home smiling again.

I think, after a few years of pissing about with these things, that slow and stupid is actually more fun than fast and furious.

Sold some old film camera gear so have shelf space.......

......quite fancy a Wild Willy..😀

Arses. Snapped an axle on a tank after a particularly heavy afternoon of skirmishing.

Best start looking for spares 🙁

The Brexit farce rears its ugly head. Again.

The spare part that I need costs €2.95, but it is only available via HengLong.de in Germany. However, they won’t accept my order because of the Brexit VAT situation unless I spend €130. I don’t really need 44 spare suspension arms, so they have cancelled the order and refunded me.

The only UK solution was to buy a complete lower tank hull complete with 10 road wheels and 10 suspension arms, which are plastic rather than metal. So I’ve gone with that.

£34 to buy something that I only want a tiny piece of, that would have previously cost less than a fiver. Did they put that on the side of the bus? No they did not.

On a more serious note getting spares for anything from Europe is going to be a pain.

I’ve taken to buying at least two of every part I break when I’m ordering spares. But then most of my spare parts are coming all the way from China which probably doesn’t help things.

Well I've now got 9 spare suspension arms, a complete lower tank hull, 10 spare road wheels, two sprockets and a battery box.

PM me, I'm in Spain, order it to my address and then I can just stick it in a jiffy bag and send it to you.

Thanks for the kind offer. I work for a German company so I'll sort something out with a colleague if it happens again.

Careful, you may find yourself inundated with requests from others/raided by the VAT man!

Anyone on here know much about r/c boats. Trying to get my head around how to connect a working rudder on a boat, (not a kit form, inherited one of my dads projects). Any help greatly appreciated

Doesn't look too complicated?

@mogrim, thanks a lot for that link, the last bit about the rudder linkage is the bit I couldn't get my head around and work out the details (and pictures always helps)

@plus-one that looks amazing!

I just finally got my Escort finished as the box was initially missing one of the part spurs. Thankfully it was just the bumper/mirror one so I’ve been able to have some fun with the car up til now. Shop ordered the missing parts for me and I’ve got them fitted. Also added the speed tuned gear set from a TL-01. Adds a nice kick of extra top speed without needing a fancy motor. The original rally block tyres were showing wear already, so I’ve fitted Tamiya 60d road tyres all round on the black wheels I’d already bought. Tempted to remove the prop shaft and see what it’s like rwd. Looking for proper old school rally slides.

@clubby cheers. Ooh new gear set 🙂 I don’t spend enough on bikes/lego as it is I need more rc stuff !! It’s obviously cheaper to buy new shell etc to have new look car 🙂 Rather than lots on another full kit.

I think I’m gonna stick for now*

*subject to change on a whim

@timbo,

Up and running again. Had an epic battle in the garden yesterday too.

Have been looking at a Challenger 2 and T90. I just need to find space to store them as they are somewhat large.

BTW... timbog you are going to get me into a lot of trouble as I spent my lunch break researching the Berlin Brigade camouflage scheme for the Challenger 2. Previous examples is such behaviour have resulted in a purchase and a bollocking.

Berlin Brigade is a smashing scheme, but would be tricky to reproduce really well I suspect. I’m guessing it was a publicity thing as BB was gone long before Chally 2 came along.

I think I read that the idea was that each vehicle was absolutely identical, thus meaning those pesky Russians would be kept guessing as to how many tanks were actually in Berlin. If there were differences in the schemes between vehicles they would be able to count them.

See also the short-lived Caunter scheme which would also make for some great looking models.

Although I have a couple of old Airfix 1/76 kits in the stash I generally don’t model AFVs or I would deffo be looking at these..!

Stop showing pictures of the tanks, the want is big!!! 😁

Picked up one of these from the local RC club group, only £40 virtually unused!

It's bloody rapid! Only real downside is that it takes a tiny 2S LiPo so runtime is only 10mins, will need more packs I think.

On a beer induced whim, ordered a Traxxas 2wd slash and the low centre or gravity kit. Also ordered a new controller to use between my two cars.

So I'll have the FTX Outlaw for proper off-road stuff and the slash for tarmac/gravel and track if there's one near by (calderdale).

Nephew and niece had a go on the cars and tanks yesterday.

Cosmetic damage to the T34.

Grasshopper body shell pretty much destroyed.

Won't be doing that again.
