I got a bottle of Talisker Skye Storm from my wife. I’m trying my best to make it last until NYE 😬

I thought there was a Christmas beer thread on here, I hadn’t realised it was eleven months ago! High time I resuscitated it for this year. Mainly because my mates nephew has a brewery in Bradford-on-Avon, and they had a little ticketed event this evening where you could sample various of their brews. Ten quid got you four tickets and you could sample various combinations or just have a couple of pints. I tried four halves…

The Skyline Saison, the Caroline Double IPA…

The Alchemy Gruit Ale and the Outline Amber Ale.

And we were given a can of this when we left…

The Saison and the Double IPA are outstanding! Very, very flavourful, the Outline is an excellent session ale, the Alchemy is brewed using whatever herbs the head gardener from the nearby Wooley Grange hotel has available, so changes it’s character every time it’s a new brewing. They have a small shop and outlet store in Corsham, and they do refillable mini-casks, so a bus ride over next week should see me well set up for Christmas. A cask each of the Caroline and the Saison should see me through a day or two, the Belgian Tripel I think I’ll be drinking in shot glasses!

Went over to Kettlesmith’s little bar/outlet shop/cafe earlier to pick up a supply of beer for the actual holiday season, and came home with these…

That’s four litres of the Caroline Double IPA, and these speak for themselves…

We have about 50 bottles of Mantle Brewery’s (from Cardigan) beers to get through. Guess who got carried away at the brewery!

Also have 2 boxes from a Beer 52 subscription to catch up on.

Holy thread resurrection! As the OP from last year I am ashamed to say my beer cellar is looking very spartan at the moment. My daughter and her fella are coming to ours from Brizzle for Christmas,  so I might put a Wiper & True order in. Other than that at this stage it will be whatever I can get locally.  Ludlow brewery is my most local but I'm not a huge fan. Salopian brewery in Shrewsbury do a few really interesting beers so I'll be grabbing a few of those, then some staples from Hobson's in Cleobury Mortimer. My beer provisioning plans are all to pot this year!

@CountZero

Bloody hell that's a blast from the past "Wooley Grange" I stayed there Christmas 1989, it was the most lavish time I think I have ever had. Not sure if its still the same owners but bloody hell they really pulled out all the stops.

No beer for me AFAIK this Christmas but I did get my Sister in Law & her husband a selection pack from my local brewery

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with W&T, they make an outstanding brew! Kettlesmith have a bunch of other brands in the fridge in the shop, including W&P, they’re not afraid to sell other brands as well as their own.

@MrOvershoot - it’s not a place I’m familiar with, other than the name, but this part of the world has a lot of similar high quality establishments, it’s slightly unusual in that they’re supplying herbs from their garden to a small local brewery. I tried the Alchemy, but I didn’t notice anything special about it, but apparently because it was a pre-Christmas ticketed event and had to be set up earlier in the day, the cooling system was a bit over enthusiastic and chilled it a bit too much, so the subtleties of the herbs were a bit lost. I’ll give it a try in their shop, now I’ve got a loyalty card… 😉
