Flying to LA on Friday for Christmas and the new year and have nearly passed out at the price of tickets - does anyone have and advice on the best way to get hold of tickets for Disneyland / other LA attractions?
And on top of that, does anyone have any other top tips for our stay?
Ta in advance.
These guys have a word or two about Disney.

We've done Florida not California so not so good on specifics that side. We have found that the tickets we wanted were cheaper at the park gate than the prepay ones available in the UK. Oh and once you do fork out for them, take a photo of them with your receipt, makes getting replacements a doddle.
Hurst Castle
APF
Disney world - stomping ground for predatory peadaphiles.
LA - raging shit hole. But the best/least offensive bits:
Gorman & hungry valley, Venice beach, Del amo mall in torrance - its massive!, Griffith observatory at night.
For eating - Fudruckers in orange county home of the full pound burger.
But yeh LA is a dump.
Sorry to be so negative on the place but i really hated my time there. If you want more helpful advice i'm happy to be more positive. I was there for years whilst i drove trucks up and down the western coast.
are your kids in the scouts by any chance ? - US scouts seem to get ossum discounts at places like that
LA - raging shit hole.
^^This^^
I was there a couple of weeks ago, and felt the very same. However, as it was after a week in Vegas, I felt, for a brief flickering moment, that LA was some sort of Elysian paradise. In comparison to Vegas, it is, but then so is a nasty dose of herpes.
Sorry.
Oh, and Tehrangeles for some top Iranian nosh!
Well we are staying near Redondo Beach and apparently that part of the city is pretty good (I expect it will be, my extremely well-off brother-in-law lives there). Like any city no doubt it has some crap parts but I am sure I will see past that and enjoy it nonetheless 😉
Best thing about LA - car hire places, cos you can then hire a car and drive somewhere worth seeing. Which won't be too hard.
Got to agree the Captain on this one, Vegas is an utter hole of a place and I would not go back if I won free flights, hotel and gambling money.
Downtown LA, Sunset, Muscle Beach etc is also the pits and would keep away if you can.
Luckily we have family who live in Huntington Beach., Orange County, so we only have to land in LA and drive out as quickly as possible.
Got bikes?
ride along the path (north bound) to santa monica. You'll pass by some cool views including Venice beach.
Redondo and most of south bay is nice. Its all the rest that surrounds it that blows! But there are loads of cool sights especially if yuh a bit of a movie buff.
From Redondo take PCH all the way into down town follow signs for Hollywood (rough as hell but worth a look) from there you can cruise around the sunset strip. No doubt you'll spot Manns chinese theatre etc.also before venturing out pick up a Thomas guide (their version of an A to Z) .
Theres also the overpriced back lot tour at Universal studios and Warner Bros. But if you do have bikes take i5 north toward Bakersfield etc and exit Gorman for Hungry Valley, its worth the time it takes to get up there; its REAL desert land with snakes and stuff!
Another popular shit whole is Las Vegas, only 6 hours up i40.
hope it helps etc.
Oh yeah, you'll definatly need to rent a car. I recommend a big heavy 4x4. You'll feel a lot safer. Think i'm exaggerating dont you...... You'll see!!!
Ok one more thing (i know its like diareha!)
keep away from small framed mexican kids in baggy shorts and vests with long socks and flip flops with shaved heads and gay moustaches, these are "gang bangers" not sex addicts but little gob shites with guns.
They can be found anywhere. They talk funny (saying "ensay" alot) and ride weird little bicycles.
They're so unpredictable its frightening.and definately have no sense of humour. So dont tease them for their little moustaches!!!
they eat pickled pigs feet!
Ping me a PM and let me know where you're staying and I'll help you out. Disney Land is further down south in Anaheim, about 1.5 hrs from LAX. So the key is where you stay during your break. There are loads of great places to go see, and do, but LA is HUGE, the logistics of driving is bonkers as the traffic is ridiculous !
Yeah we are hiring a car and already thought about size - went for a Dodge Caravan 7 seater (even though there are only 4 of us) for its size. 🙂
