My sailing club have an ongoing problem with kids taking boats on the water and causing damage. We’ve done all we can to secure the site but we can’t stop them swimming ashore!
Police have suggested CCTV would help both dissuade some of the activity and help them follow up on individuals
So - the pic below shows the site, we’ve got power at the clubhouse but no fixed phone line (a 4g dongle is possible) I’m thinking a combination of maybe dummy cameras on some posts along with signage to draw attention and then something like a handful of Arlo or similar cameras?
As we’re an organisation (all be it private property) I understand we need to register with the ICO? Any tips for not creating a massive headache of myself down the line?

I bought blink from argos, but they failed so I got this from Amazon turned up yesterday. Battery powered and "weatherproof" although I'd install it under something if it was a sailing club and exposed.

So far has been excellent with the motion detection, and sent me alerts etc. You can get these with solar panels, or mains powered and then like you said use a 4g mobile phone to provide a wifi hotspot and you'll be golden. I put 64gb card in mine.
On private property, you don't need a licence. Put a big telly in the clubhouse window, showing the live camera pictures aswell.
Or, why not offer some free sailing lessons to local kids?!
If you’re using 4g be mindful of the fair use limits.
Lebara (uses Vodafone) has no limit, EE is 1 terabyte and 3 / smarty has no limit.
I'd go for dummy cameras plus signage, they will be enough of a deterrent or they won't. Having images of the perps isn't really going to help unless the police can actually identify them and are prepared to do something.

I've found that like when I buy a TV in a shop, thieves do appreciate a demo of what is being nicked....
