I finally got round to buying someLanx "Garstang" Chelsea boots in "caramel" colour.
Beautiful pair of daisies.
If I didn't have more boots than I need, I'd be very tempted to make a short journey to their shop.
I got some Lanx Dutton for Christmas. Lovely looking things.
This thread reminded me I've only worn them once for work but I still have the scars from the blisters on my heels. I really need to break them in.
I revisited this thread as have been looking at a new pair of boots. Small PSA if you have size 8 or 8.5 feet like me (there’s also 6 of you have tiny feet). Grenson Bill boots with 60% off.
Thursday Boots Captain. They do a normal, heritage, and rugged & resilient version. Oh and Stormking. Lovely boots. I have the heritage as they are slightly more rounded at the toebox, not as pointy (which looks odd with "athletic" legs and size 13 feet!)
I recently needed a new set of boots for work. Nothing too 'military' and bulky, something comfortable and casual looking. I settled for a pair of Clarks solsbury chukka boots.
They do the job quite cheaply.
Good shout e-machine. Quick Google shows they're on sale here so I've just got a pair for 48 quid. (were $260)
Thats a better price than I had - well done you!
Yeah the "was $260" could well have been a price they ran pre sale to make the sale look more enticing - but stuff is generally silly priced here. (Was toying with a Leatherman Arc but they're $600!!)
Still.... new boots on the way. Cheers for the suggestion.
regarding new boots. i am just about to buy a pair of these.

Thursday boots are really good. You can usually find them on UK Amazon to save shipping/import fees.
Actually they change their prices on their site quite often and they're cheaper than Amazon and factor in shipping and import fees.
I was "THIS" close to ordering a pair of Captain's from Amazon a few weeks back but they were $50 cheaper direct from their site. Worth keeping an eye on!
The Clark's Solsbury arrived yesterday though. A little miffed as the box said UK 12 (G) which I believe is wider fitting (but the box said US 13 (M). Initially I was annoyed but with a decent pair of socks and some slighlty thicker insoles they are bob on. (And on my feet right now at work).
Not read the whole thread, so they might have come up, or not, as they are percieved to be over priced and not as good as bitd.
I picked up a pair Dr Martens chelsea boots in Burgundy the other week for £95 which I was well pleased with even if they're not as good as they once were...
Lots of sizes. https://www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/2976-yellow-stitch-burgundy-smooth-leather-chelsea-boots-burgundy/p/27280626
Holy thread resurrection! After saying this 9 months ago, I finally got round to buying some Lanx "Garstang" Chelsea boots in "caramel" colour. I'm really chuffed with them, really nice quality with loads of neat touches and fit like a comfy pair of slippers from the off. I've owned a lot of boots in my time, but these are the nicest so far. I can't comment on durability yet obviously, but I love everything else about them. Not cheap (just over £200 with discount - some colours are a lot cheaper), but unless they fall apart in short order (highly unlikely) I can see me buying more. Great to be buying from a small UK company keeping traditional skills alive too.
Thread revival. I had a loyalty discount from my first purchase above, which was about to expire, and some Lanx vouchers I'd had for my birthday, so I just treated myself to my second pair of Lanx boots. As my Chelsea boots are more "smart casual", I wanted a pair of lace up boots I could wear every day with casual clothes, but which would also not look out of place if dressing a bit smarter. I opted for some Derby boots, their "Settle" design in "brown distressed". I need to wear them in, but they are pretty comfortable from the off, even though I have odd shaped feet. Unlike my other pair, these are not UK made, but the quality looks to be every bit as good. Time will tell, but very happy so far.
These look a bit of a bargain if they are any good. The suede ones are even cheaper.

Also these cheap ‘n cheerful (possibly!) jobbers. https://www.debenhams.com/product/off-the-hook-sahara-suede-leather-casual-lace-up-chukka-boots_p-2f98b102-20f4-4ee6-971a-c5bf09dce236
I have the Roamers desert boots. The suede ones are the absolute business. The leather ones are also comfy but are lined which I don’t like.
@zippykona how is the sizing? I see they only do full sizes. I’m often an 8 1/2 in some shoes.
@MrSparkle I'm a 7 and they fit perfect. Nice and wide.
I should say they do narrow and wide ones. I’ll try and find the codes.
The last suede ones I bought were M400es and the leather ones are the Leonardo.
These are the wider ones.
Merci.
I've got a pair of Reiker winter Chelsea boots, same sort of construction and air sole as solo air, Doc's etc, can't say I've ever noticed them moving around, I do have tall feet and wide toes though so too much room is never a problem!.
Downsides, they're suede, which isn't easy to keep clean in winter! And the wool lining means they're too hot as soon as the weather warms up, they're even borderline in a warm office!
