Settled on a Motorola Defy, just about to sign up for vodafone when I came across all this 360 stuff they force onto your phone. I've seen suggestions online that if you get your phone from carphone warehouse it may not come branded with all the network operator's rubbish, anyone know if this is true?
And if that's the case do you then get your Android updates direct from Google, or what?
my htc desire from carphone warehouse (t-mobile) was unbranded. also means you get the over the air updates sooner as you don't have to wait for the operators to stick their extra stuff on them.
Sounds promising. And otherwise your use of the T-mobile (or whoever) network is exactly the same as if you'd got it from them directly?
look at mobiles.co.uk - they are part of carphone warehouse but they do some good deals and the phones are 'unbranded'
My galaxy s is unbranded.
my defy is unbranded, from carphone wharehouse, and on vodafone 😀
Also for exactly the same monthly cost (mins, text, net) I also got a gift! (wii fit plus)
No brainer for me!
ps. superb phone.....
What deal did you get for mins, text, gift etc cider? Been looking at the defy for a while but i dont use that many mins at the moment (currently on payg around £20 every 3 months) .... guess that may change with a new phone with more uses... was considering buying the phone only and using it on payg, costs about the same as a contract in the long run without the contract tie in...
Was told in phones4u that the upgrades are straight from the net and that the android updgrade to 2.2 was available now....i thought originally is was supposed to be in Q2 of 2011

I think 2.2 is available now, but not for the Defy till Q2. But I'm not really that clear on what the relationship is between the manufacturer, the network, and when you can get your upgrade.
