Car failed it's MOT today, gonna cost in excess of £500 to fix. Money I don't really have at the moment. Car only cost me a grand a year ago.
So. Do I:
A. Get shot of the car, commute by bike for the three days I work and feel better for it as I'll save a little cash and hopefully get a little fitter
Or
B: get the car fixed, stay fat and even more skint

Whats up with the car, can you fix it yourself cheaper? If your other option is to scrap it then you might as well try, nothing to loose!
