Why do car exhausts stink so much more during cold weather? Just a thought that went through my mind on my ride earlier! They always seem to kick out a right pong when It's cold.

Stronger smell and almost more acid like too.

I think it's just because the air is a bit damp it tends to hold the fumes for longer.

Cold air is denser than warm air and as such an engine will run richer to compensate. Thus the heavier smell from the exhaust.
