im thinking no, but not sure.i need to repair our cast iron fireplace.its very cheap cast iron if it helps??
Yes you can, cast iron is surprisingly soft, you'll be surprised at how easy it is. Will obviously also hold a thread very well.
I've got a funny feeling that you use paraffin as a cutting compund when working with cast but I wouldn't quote me on it.
However if you've got to weld cast iron that's a different story.
HTH
never done it, but cast iron is soft compared to mild steel.
Yes you can its soft and powdery, more abrasive than steel, to a certain extent its self lubricating, you can tap it too.
It drills easier than steel, but watch for naughty blow holes in the casting cus they'll be full of sand and blunt yer drill 🙄
Yes, use some WD40 as you're cutting saves your drill clogging
Yep it's a pretty soft metal. The only caveat is that if it's a casting then it could well have an armadillo like hard crust to it.
