[#10560595]

Well some of the old timer on here (like the pre-hack period) may remember me. As I am know not in the UK and my job doesn't involve sitting at a keyboard all day long it is true to say that I barely come on here much.

I am quite shocked and very sad about Bullheart and Troutie 🙁
Never got a chance to actually meet them in real life but always liked their attitude (ok probably not always this is afterall STW)

So now the question is how is everyone from the good old time doing?

Are you French Juan who used to live in SOuthampton?
If so, I'm doing fine, thanks. But I'm much older now.

Ca va, Juan?

The question for old-timers should be how's the riding going?

But I’m much older now.

We all are, but Juan remains younger, Frencher and more handsomer than us 😀

My first post (predictably a tire thread) was 7 years ago, if that counts.
Mostly lurking but still here.

Well I so wish this was true, but the 'younger' bit is a very old memory 😀

Glad to hear from familiar names. I am good here and happy that everyone else is even 'thoseindisguise'

What year was the hack? I guess 2004 or 2005? Was it then that everyone had to re-register? Or was there some other update for that?

Hi Juan.

I remember you were one of the brave ones who posted your picture on that super long thread of members' pictures. And then you disappeared.

I assumed there was some sort of correlation, so it's good to know you're okay.

Welcome back.

Well my 'disapearence had more to do with me working in the industry and being in France. Just popped back because I am looking for some help about locations and B&B in London and I have decided to have a quick look throught the various posts. And failed to recognise anyone 🙁

IIRC The hack was more 2007-2008

Waves.

Still riding, still rolling my eyes at some of the posts on here, also still learning lots of stuff.
Still looking after the bird and wildlife population.

Lovely to hear from you again. Can't help regarding that London, as I don't live anywhere near or ever visit.

Bunnyhop x

There's still a lot of lurkers here, who have been around for years, but for people like me who are normally working during the day and only get on here in the evenings, things have slowed down a helluva lot!

Hi! I guess I'm fairly old-time, I think I registered just after I bought my first copy of the mag - issue 14, the one where Jenn tried her hand at MTB photography under the guidance of Steve Behr IIRC!

This forum led me to singlespeeding, a LOT of tech talk, a stint as a cycle courier and ultimately a career in the bike industry, as well as introducing me to lots of lovely people and a few ridiculous memes (I actually met that ginger guy who started sending photos of himself to female forum members although mercifully I can't remember his name). I don't post anywhere near as much these days, unless I'm procrastinating, as I have a business to run, but - hi Juan!

EDIT: and I'm still in That London, ping me a message if I can help at all.

I've been on here almost since the beginning. I even contributed some articles to the mag, way back yonder. Back in the nineties and noughties my brother and I were so obsessed with mountain biking that we drove the rest of our family to distraction.

Still here after 16 years, a little bit older but still managing to throw the bike down a few hills on a regular basis. Both my girls have grown up and are still riding bikes.

{wave} Still here from the pre hack days now with a geographically more accurate username following a house move.

I am NOT getting older (in my head). My body keeps trying to disagree. I'm arguing with it.

I'd say I'm winning.

It says I'm a liar.

Been lurking around since the days of Gofar. Think my mag subscriber No. is 633, so I just missed out on the introductory subscriber offers to the first 500. Still miffed at that. Don't really post much, but I do enjoy surfing the threads.
