Best cakes are home made ones...that way you can eat them warm with a crusty top, dripping with melting cream or fresh creme anglais (custard, for any northerners reading this).

Just had a huge chunk of a gloopy sticky soft ground almond cake I've made this evening. Lemon drizzle, who needs flour!

Best cakes are indeed home made, by my wife and middle son. Marrying a trained baker was an excellent move. 8)

Scones aren't cakes ffs! Scones are the main course before the cakey dessert!

No one mentioned Lardy Cake yet? Only had it once when down in Gloucester but I had 3 pieces in a row!

Anyway, I'm off to plan a trip to Keswick. 😀
